ULTIMED ANNOUNCES ENTRY INTO PEN NEEDLE MARKET

ST. PAUL , MINNESOTA – October 5, 2004 – UltiMed has announced plans to extend its leadership position in the insulin syringe market and will sell pen needles to pharmacy chains and wholesalers.
Initially, UltiMed will be offering both UltiCare brand and private label pen needles packaged in the traditional style box.

UltiMed will also offer an alternative packaging style for pen needles which will include an integrated sharps container. The new dual-use container for UltiGuard pen needles will be similar to the Company's UltiGuard syringe line's dual-use container which dispenses new syringes and also stores used insulin syringes. UltiMed has multiple patents and patent applications pending for various types of sharps containers and dual-use sharps containers at the U.S. Patent Office. Some of UltiMed's proprietary technology is specific for pen needles.
